What’s up everyone!? It has been awhile since I posted but I had to let everyone in on this one. Do not ignore the immaculate combo of Deception and Beatsmith Bear on this track with a sick verse by Sunspot Jonz of The Living Legends. Awesome collaboration between these artists, worthy of your time! Plus it’s a FREE download so click the link already!
Howdy! This is another free Ep from Albertan artist Aerosubtle. 9 songs, 17 minutes, its dope! Keep an eye out for a full length release in the near future.
Nice Calgary All-Star mash-up! This track features both emcees from Blist, Ricca Razor Sharp, Teekay from Dragon Fli Empire and is produced by Planit. Ricca & Teekay go in real dope, plus the beat is tight. Both emcees from Blist have good verses aswell. Make sure you check this one out! If you didn’t know, Teekay is the emcee from Dragon Fli Empire, easily one of the nicest groups to come out of Calgary. You can find more about these artists by following the links below.
The Random Humans are an alternative hip-hop group who have just recently appeared on the scene. Made up of MC Deception from Longview, Alberta and DJ/Producer Beatsmith Bear from Vancouver, B.C., these Canadian artists truly know the meaning of real hip-hop. MC Deception started making a name for himself in Alberta, then suddenly moved to Vancouver where he met Bear and started turning heads. Deception’s masterfully crafted metaphors and references shine through perfectly on Bear’s original and crisp beats. Currently, The Random Humans have only released one self-titled EP with 3 songs, but Deception has a catalog of older material which can be found here (You’ll have to sign up which is free and quick).
The first track on the EP, “Can’t Escape” starts the disc with a darker tone and a menacing bass-line. Decep comes in with a darker style than his earlier joints and lays down some ill verses about the global economic situation, and the chorus is perfect with an ominous hymn in the background. The second track, “Like Yesterday” starts in with a dope whistle and a lighter tone, then moves into the chorus and changes pace. The last track on the EP, “What You Do” is a perfect example of what these two are capable of. The lyrics and flow are flawless and the production is perfect. Check it out below. All in all, the EP is worth your time and if you get a chance, grab it! You can check these songs out at The Random Humans Myspace.
Deception also has a solo album that he recorded while in Vancouver, called “Under False Creek”. Definitely check that out too if you get a chance. Here are a couple more of my favorite early Deception tracks.
Calgary local artist Geeze ripping it up on this track. Geeze is an up-and-comer so keep your ears close to the ground if you want to hear more of this kid. This show was at The Gallery on 17th avenue. Props to Geeze for shouting out my shit, “I miss chillin in Hook’s Underground Basement!”
Check it out.
